It's OUR Healthcare . . . it should be OUR choice!

Finally, they're listening.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, Senate President pro Tem Don Perata, and Senator Sheila Kuehl are all sponsoring significant healthcare reform proposals this year.

But unless we weigh in for quality, affordable healthcare for everyone, we might not like what we get.

We can't lose this opportunity to make the changes we need -- changes that protect consumers and working families, expand coverage, control costs, require employers to contribute to help fund the system, and strengthen our emergency rooms and trauma centers.

Tell your Legislator and the Governor that Californians want real reform now!

Send this message to:
  • Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (if you live in California)
  • cc: Your Assemblyperson (if you live in California)
  • cc: Your State Senator (if you live in California)

Subject:

Dear [Decision Maker],

Thank you for making the healthcare crisis your top priority this year.

Each year, more and more Californians end up paying more money for less healthcare coverage. And that's for those who are lucky enough not to be one of the state's 6.5 million uninsured.

Fixing our healthcare is too important to fall victim to inaction.

I'm joining other Californians to let you know that we want reform that will work for all of us:

1. Quality, affordable healthcare that allows all Californians to get the healthcare they need when they need it.

2. Insurance reforms to control costs and allow everyone access to quality healthcare and coverage.

3. Employers and government sharing responsibility and risk with consumers.

4. Limits on the risk and burdens placed on individual consumers and families, and protecting them from being forced to buy coverage they cannot afford and that does not cover their healthcare needs.

5. Prevention and safety efforts to help individuals get healthy and stay healthy, by providing healthy communities and choices, while not placing financial barriers to care.

6. Policies to preserve and strengthen the public hospitals, emergency rooms, and trauma centers that all Californians rely on.

7. Efforts to control costs, while protecting benefits and preventing increased financial barriers to care.
